    By the dawn

    89:2

    to top

    Sahih International

    And [by] ten nights

    89:3

    And [by] the even [number] and the odd

    89:4

    to top
    89:4
    Sahih International

    And [by] the night when it passes,

    89:5

    to top
    89:5
    Sahih International

    Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?

    89:6

    89:6
    Sahih International

    Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with ‘Aad -

    89:7

    to top
    89:7
    Sahih International

    [With] Iram – who had lofty pillars,

    89:8

    to top
    89:8
    Sahih International

    The likes of whom had never been created in the land?

    89:9

    to top
    89:9
    Sahih International

    And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?

    89:10

    to top
    89:10
    Sahih International

    And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -

    89:11

    to top
    89:11
    Sahih International

    [All of] whom oppressed within the lands

    89:12

    to top
    89:12
    Sahih International

    And increased therein the corruption.

    89:13

    to top
    89:13
    Sahih International

    So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.

    89:14

    89:14
    Sahih International

    Indeed, your Lord is in observation.

    89:15

    to top
    89:15
    Sahih International

    And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, “My Lord has honored me.”

    89:16

    to top
    89:16
    Sahih International

    But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, “My Lord has humiliated me.”

    89:17

    to top
    89:17
    Sahih International

    No! But you do not honor the orphan

    89:18

    to top
    89:18
    Sahih International

    And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.

    89:19

    to top
    89:19
    Sahih International

    And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,

    89:20

    to top
    89:20
    Sahih International

    And you love wealth with immense love.

    89:21

    to top
    89:21
    Sahih International

    No! When the earth has been leveled – pounded and crushed -

    89:22

    to top
    89:22
    Sahih International

    And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,

    89:23

    to top
    89:23
    Sahih International

    And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell – that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?

    89:24

    to top
    89:24
    Sahih International

    He will say, “Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life.”

    89:25

    to top
    89:25
    Sahih International

    So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,

    89:26

    to top
    89:26
    Sahih International

    And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].

    89:27

    Sahih International

    [To the righteous it will be said], “O reassured soul,

    89:28

    to top
    89:28
    Sahih International

    Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],

    89:29

    to top
    89:29
    Sahih International

    And enter among My [righteous] servants

    89:30

    to top
    89:30
    Sahih International

    And enter My Paradise.”
